María R. Felipe-Lucia
I am an ecologist with strong interest on social-ecological research. Topics transversal to my research are related to sustainability sciences, multifunctional landscapes, and how to navigate the compromises between provisioning services, biodiversity conservation and equity.
Most of my research has focused on assessing ecosystem services and biodiversity across gradients of land use intensity. During my PhD I investigated (i) ecosystem services-biodiversity interactions across land use types, (ii) ecosystem services trade-offs and synergies across multiple spatial scales, (iii) social valuation of ecosystem services, (iv) the role of ecological and social interactions that mediate ecosystem services flows, and (v) scenarios modelling for ecosystem services management.
Currently, I am a postdoc in the Synthesis group of the Biodiversity Exploratories, where I study the role of forest multifunctionality driving important ecosystem services and analyse the effects of increasing management intensity on ecosystem services supply. I’m now starting a new project looking at how increasing land use intensity affects the linkages between biodiversity, ecosystem functions and ecosystem services using correlation networks.
