My Master’s project is in collaboration with the WSL institute. On their Polytunnel Greenhouse experimental site, we are primarily investigating the root phenology and mycorrhizal colonization of four potential future tree species that were grown in higher temperatures and drier conditions. While most studies focus on aboveground traits, this experiment will hopefully bring us closer to understanding how these species react to changing conditions belowground and therefore aid climate smart forestry: making decisions that are not only economically viable but also satisfy requirements for carbon storage and ecosystem functions.
